Education

The educational system in Rockwall County is among the highest-ranked in the state having received many distinguished awards and rankings including the Blue Ribbon School Award from the U.S. Department of Education. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school, plus an alternative high school located in Rockwall, just seven miles north. Heath is home to two elementary and one middle school as well as three private schools. Heath students attend high school in Rockwall. There are several colleges and universities in the area including Rockwall College, the University of Texas at Dallas, Baylor University and Collin Community College.

Recreation

Residents of Heath benefit from living on the east shore of Lake Ray Hubbard. They can enjoy fishing, boating, sailing, and hunting as well as other water and land activities. The Rush Creek Yacht Club, located in Heath, hosts many National and International sailing events in addition to their weekly racing schedule. In addition, Heath is within proximity to three golf courses and a public driving range.

While Heath is a fairly small town, it is a self-contained community with plenty of retail outlets. There is everything that a person would need without the stress of the larger malls. There are several small specialty stores that carry unique items throughout Heath. For the needs of daily life plus other basic items, the Steger Towne Crossing, the Ridge Road Shopping Center and the Rockwall Village Shopping Center are available to residents.
